PROJECT PLANNING WORKSHOP
The Project Planning Workshop is recommended for Project Managers, Team Leaders, and Project Teams who wish to improve their planning and scheduling skills. It does not assume any prior knowledge of planning, and whilst it does not hide its PRINCE2™ origins, no prior knowledge of PRINCE2™ is required.
Reasons for participating in this workshop:
- To learn a simple method for breaking a project into its elements.
- To understand the type of information that needs to be gathered for each element.
- To learn how to build a whole schedule up from its elements.
- To practice applying this method to a real life project.
The outline agenda is:
- Introduction, Objectives and Background
- Planning pre-requisites including Project Definition and Quality
- Planning a project including a Product Breakdown Structure
- Product descriptions & Product Flow Diagram
- Activities, Estimates and Scheduling
- The keys to successful planning
Approximately half the course consists of practical exercises based around real projects contributed by the course attendees. Exercises include preparing a Plan Definition, Acceptance Criteria, a Product Breakdown Structure, a Product Description, an activity list and a high level GANTT chart.
Currently, this course is only available as an In-House course.
