PRINCE2™ FOUNDATION EXAMINATION

There are two levels of qualification in PRINCE2™ - Foundation and Practitioner.

You must attend a PRINCE2™ course (3 days or a 2 day course plus the 1 day Foundation Upgrade Course). The 3 day course and the Foundation Upgrade Course include the 1 hour Foundation Exam.

A pass in the Foundation Exam is a pre-requisite for registration for the Practitioner Exam.

The Foundation examination is a one hour long, 75 question, multiple choice paper. No reference materials are permitted. You must get 38 or more questions correct to pass.

This level is aiming to measure whether a candidate would be able to act as an informed member of a project management team using the PRINCE2™ method within a project environment supporting PRINCE2™. To this end they need to show they understand the principles and terminology of the method, specifically, candidates must be able to:

  • Describe the purpose and major content of all roles, the eight components, the eight processes and the sub-processes, and the techniques.
  • State which management products are input to, and output from the eight processes.
  • State the main purpose, and key contents, of the major management products.
  • State the relationships between processes, products, roles and the management dimensions of a project.

The PRINCE 2 Manual "Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2™" (ISBN 0-11-330946-5) is the core text for these examinations. This manual is available from Rational Management. Please contact us on 03 9654 0142 or at manager@rational.com.au.
